You can always write percentages as a direct proportion, or equivalent fractions.

In this case you do not even need to know the value of #x# because you know how one value compares with a given percent.

#30% # is to #50# as #60%# is to what?

#30/50 = 60/y" "(larr"percents")/(larr"values")#

#30y = 50xx60#

#y = (50xx60)/30#

#y= 100#

You could also notice that
#60%# is #30% xx2#, so the value will be
#50xx2 =100#

We can work this out by two methods:

First, you could just spot that 60% is double 30% and therefore multiply the value by 2:

#30%=50#

#therefore# #60%=2xx30%# -> #2xx50=100#

Or you could work out #100%# of the given first value then multiply to find #60%#

#30%# of #x=50#

#therefore# #x=100/30 xx 50=166.6666666666...#

As percent means 'out of 100' we divide 100 by our given percentage then multiply by the value.

As #166.6666666... =100%# ...

We can multiply by #0.6# (changing 60% to a decimal) to get #60%#
