Four times parenthesis 'x' minus three

Explanation:

The four is on the outside of the parenthesis so that mean it is being multiplied by what's on the inside. Hence the 'times'. You also have to make note of the parenthesis before explaining what's on the inside. Then you can note what is on the inside 'x minus three'. Some teachers require you to say close parenthesis after. Hope this helps!

Use maths words to describe the operations.

Explanation:

In words, a multiplication is indicated by the word 'product' and a subtraction is indicated by the word 'difference'

4(x-3)4(x3) can be described as

'The product of 44, and the difference between a number and 33

Or 44 multiplied by, 33 less than a number.

If you were wanting to read it for someone to write down, you can say

44 into xx minus 33
