optical isomer can be identified by the property of superimposition with its mirror image.
Explanation:
if the mirror image of an molecule is superimposed with the actual molecule in three dimensional arrangement then it has no optical activity i.e. the molecule does not rotate the plane of polarisation of light. but if the mirror image of the molecule dose'nt superimpose with the actual molecule in 3D then it is said to be optically active.
