The six basic trigonometric functions are:
1. Sine, sinθ
2. Cosine, cosθ
3. Tangent, tanθ
4. Cotangent, cotθ
5. Secant, secθ
6. Cosecant, cscθ

Take the following triangle for example:

Let the angle marked at A be θ.
The longest side of the triangle is the hypotenuse, the side next to the angle is the adjacent and the side opposite to it is the opposite.

Then,

sinθ=opphyp=ah

cosθ=adjhyp=bh

tanθ=oppadj=ab=sinθcosθ

cotθ=adjopp=ba=cosθsinθ=1tanθ

secθ=hypadj=hb=1cosθ

cscθ=hypopp=ha=1sinθ

Now if we the triangle were to have sides 3, 4 and 5 units long such that
a=4,b=3,h=5
The six basic trigonometric functions would be:

sinθ=ah=45

cosθ=bh=35

tanθ=ab=43

cotθ=ba=34

secθ=hb=53

cscθ=ha=54
