$Y prop XrArr Y=kX............(1), where, k!=0$ is a const. of variation.

To determine $k$ , we are given the cond. that,

when $X=-18/35, Y=-6/7$

Let us put these values in $( )$ , to see that, $-6/7=k(-18/35)$

$:. k=6/7xx35/18=5/3$

Hence, the const. of variation $k=5/3$ .
