The probability associated with an event is the ratio

of the number of possible events (say A) favorable for the occurrence of the event,

to the number of all the events (say B) that are possible.

As the minimum value for A could be #0#

and maximum value possible for A is B

the ratio i.e. the probability of happening of the event ranges from #0/B=0# and #B/B=1# and hence

the probability associated with an event can not be a number greater than #1# nor less than #0#.
