Why do the the planets go around the sun and not into it?

The planets were formed from a rotating disk of gas called Nebula.
Explanation:
They have speeds from the time of formation and as no force stops them they will continue at free fall around Sun. Their angular momentum keeps them going against the gravitational pull of Sun.
