Explanation:
In September of 1876, twelve delegates were sent from each of the states of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Virginia to meet at Mann's Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland.
The meeting was held over three days and was termed the Annapolis Convention but was actually The meeting of Commissioners to Remedy the Defects of the Federal Government.
The primary concern of the convention was to discuss the the regulation of trade between and among the states.
Unfortunately, only these five states were represented. delegates from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and North Carolina did not arrive in time for the convention and the remaining four states at the time failed to send representative.
The ultimate outcome of the meeting was to organize a convention to be held in Philadelphia the following May hoping that more states would be able to provide representation at the convention.
