REMEMBER IT THIS WAY BODMAS(Brackets off,division,multiplication,addition and subtraction)

The distributive law is used in situations like this

$a (b - c) = a b - a c$ $a(b-c)=ab-ac$

(This is the distributive law of multiplication over subtraction)

$a (b + c) = a b + a c$ $a(b+c)=ab+ac$

(This is the distributive law of multiplication over addition).

$x^{2} (2 y^{3} - 98) = x^{2} 2 y^{3} - 98 x^{2}$ $x^2(2y^3 - 98) =x^2 2y^3 - 98x^2$
