What was mostly true of women's circumstances during the Great Depression?
1 Answer
Women in the Depression
Explanation:
Depends on who you were and where you lived. A lot of women were already homemakers and not really in the work force. So if their husband lost their job, then they would have to hope for the best. If a women took up a job instead of here husband would have been seen ad bad for the husbands reputation, even though it is becoming more common today. Some women did work in the fields of a farmer or grower or worked as a telephone operator. They tended to hire men because they were seen and thought to be as stronger and smarter than women. Women did suffer a lot because they had to part with a lot of personal possessions and some resorted to selling their children. Either for good or selling them for work.
