Basically Hamilton was something of a snob, despite coming from humble origins and had a bit of a distrust for general democracy (actually, a lot of the founders did - just look at how they set up the electoral college.), so he advocated for a monarchical life-long executive with an absolute veto, the ability to appoint state governors, and little to no checks.
