According to World Population Growth (https://ourworldindata.org/world-population-growth/), the population was 1.65 billion in 1900. It hit 6 billion in 2000 (Botkin and Keller, 2003).
Therefore from 1.65 billion to 6 billion, the increase is 4.35 billion (thanks to all people who helped).
In other words, the increase is 100*(4.35/1.65) = 264% in the 20th century.
Right now (as of 2017), the world population is nearly 7.4 billion (www.census.gov). And yes it is still increasing!
