Explanation:
For large scale they use desalination plants..THey are called multistage flash evaporation plants.
Also reverse osmosis is used. desalination plants need lot of heat to make evaporation.reverse osmosis plants need lot of electric power..MSF evaporators work under vacuum conditions..
