What is the equation of the line between #(5,13)# and #(-1,43)#?

1 Answer

Hi,
Equation of line can be found from various terms .
- This is a two point form
- As two point are given let the points be P and Q

,
1.With two points slope of a line can be obtained with
Formula be (#(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)#),this is m=slope

Here,, Y2 and Y1 are y-co ordinates of two points .
X2 and X1 are x-coordinates of two given points .

(co ordinates (X1,Y1) and (X2,Y2) can be of point P or Q or else Q or P respectively)

Hence formula be
(y-Y1)=m(x-X1)....(Equation1)
--
here Y1 and X1 can cordinates be any of the two points i.e X1 and Y1 can be coordinates of P or else Q ..

For simplification u can understand the whole problem for One formula .by substituing m in equation 1

formula be ,
#(y-Y1)/(Y2-Y1)#=#(x-X1)/(X2-X1)#

this is just obtained by subtituting m in equation1
