Explanation:

When a material sublimes, it undergoes the transition from the solid state directly to the gaseous state. A common material that sublimes at normal pressures is "dry ice", i.e. CO_2(g). In my very young days, I can remember ice cream sellers using blocks of dry ice to cool their ice creams; of course when the dry ice turned to gas it would not soak their stock.
