Is the colour of oxygen-poor blood blue/purple or is this inaccurate?

Yes it is inaccurate, cause the blood can either be dark-red (poor oxygenated blood) or red (oxygenated blood)

arteries - red (carries oxygenated rich blood [red])

veins - blue (carries poor oxygenated red [dark red])

Blood in the veins has very little oxygen and is a dark red color that looks almost blue when covered by your skin..
