What is enthalpy a form of?

Enthalpy is technically a form of energy. We pretty much always use units of "kJ" or "kJ/mol" for it, and joules are a unit of energy.

In fact, enthalpy can be defined as heat flow at a constant pressure:

DeltaH = q_p

And heat flow is... well, thermal energy.
