What is culturing cells?

A tissue culture is taking cells from a living organism and putting them in a medium that contains the requires materials by these cell. These cells start dividing giving more cells. They can be treated by hormones to give tissues, and even organs. They have lots of medicinal applications like for example skin transplant in cases of severe burns where the original skin cells are taken from the same patient so the new skin produces is not rejected by the immune system.
