A structure from where astronomers observe celestial objects.

The astronomical equipment have advanced from ancient rock structure s to radio and X ray telescopes in space.
First important instrument was optical telescopes..
Observatory will have different equipment's ,.like telescopes. spectroscopes , computers etc/.
Now space telescopes like chandra x ray observatory .Hubble telescope etc are used.They have control rooms from which data is sent to researchers in university to analyse
Many observatories are situated on mountain tops but are used by remote control..from far way locations.
