Hydrogen ions (H^+) and Hydroxyl ions (OH^-).

Explanation:

When water is split, using an electrolyte and electrodes, initially Hydrogen ions (H^+) or protons and Hydroxyl ions (OH^-) are produced.

These gravitate to the respective electrodes where H_2 and O_2 molecules (gas) are formed.
