What does a box and whisker plot represent?

It is another method of displaying data like a stem and leaf diagram, pie chart or bar chart.
You only use 5 pieces of data, the lowest and highest values, the median(L_2L2) value and then the lower quartile(L_1L1) and the upper quartile (L_3L3).
The beauty of a box plot is that it splits the data up into quarters. Between the lowest score and L_1L1 is a quarter of the data. Between L_1L1 and L_2L2 there is a quarter of the data.
Between L_2L2 and L_3L3 there is a quarter of the data.
Between L_3L3 and the highest score there is a quarter of the data.
