B cells start to proliferate in response to an invasion by antigens. They produce a generation of plasma cells which actively secrete antibodies in body fluid.

Antibodies are globulin type proteins. Each B cell can generate only a single type of antibody against a particular foreign antigen, to which it was first exposed.
