Peritonitis is an infectous disease, from the inflammation of a membrane that lines the abdominal walls, and the abdominal organs.
Peritonitis is generally caused by a hole in the intestines, or a leak. It can also be caused by bacteria. Generally found in ages 19+, there are many symptoms. These include pain and tenderness in the abdomen, bloating, fluid in the abdomen, nausea or vomiting, a fever, chills, no appetite, and even organ dysfunction.
This condition is always treated with antibiotics, and sometimes it may require surgery or drainage.
