Solar Eclipse is caused by the alignment of the moon in between the Earth and the Sun.

Solar Eclipse is caused by the alignment of the moon in between the Earth and the Sun, thus blocking the sun light. The moon is 400 times smaller than the Sun but at the same time the Sun is 400 times further away, clearly they cannot be compared as far as the size is concerned but because of the distance between the Sun and the Moon, they both appear to be the same size in the Sky. Because of the Speed at which Sun moves it is difficult for a solar eclipse to last more than 8 minutes.
