With naked eyes, we are not seeing all stars of our galaxy Milky Way. What we see are only local stars with varying apparent luminosity.

Apparent luminosity of a star is different from actual luminosity. Luminosity of a star is dependent on size and temperature. Indeed, apparent luminosity is dependent on distance and intervening gas and dust as well.
