refractors
reflectors, cassigrains. or dobsonians.

Uses of telescopes
1 They collect more light.
2 They resolve close objects
3 They magnify objects.
Light collected by telescopes are split by spectro scope to find ht temperature of stars. of light/elements red shift etc.
In addition to optical telescopes there are telescopes which work on other bands of electro magnetic spectrum.
Gama ray, X ray, Infrra red.Micro wave, Radio, UV etc.Most of them are used in space above earth's atmosphere to study objects in space..
