In chemistry, there are lots of endothermic processes. During an endothermic process, heat is absorbed to make the reaction happen, and so the products have more energy than the reactants. The change in enthalpy, #DeltaH# is therefore negative.

An example of an endothermic process would be ice melting. Ice absorbs heat from the air and therefore melts to liquid water. The equation can be represented as:

When water is heated to #100^@"C"# at standard pressure, it will start to boil and eventually evaporate. But, enough heat energy is needed to make this reaction happen. The equation is thus:
