One example of a subduction zone is the Pacific coast South America. The Pacific plate is converging with the South American plate. As the two plate s come together the Pacific plate is pushed down and under the South American plate. The South American plate is pushed upward creating the Andes mountains.

Where the plate carrying the subcontinent of India collides with the Asian plate is another convergent boundary. Where the two continental plates come together the crusts of both buckles creating the Himalaya Mountains.

Two types of convergent boundaries are where Ocean plates meet Continental plates creating subduction zones and where two continental plates meet.
