The Colonists one great advantage over the British during the Revolutionary War was their mode of fighting formation.

Explanation:

The colonist fought almost independently - spread out behind trees, under bridges, around corners, and their clothing blended in more with the wilderness.

The British had always fought in rows. They did in the Revolutionary War as well. The Colonist would shoot then from the front, sides and back of their perfectly formed rows. Their 'Red Coats' were a 'dead' give away, and functioned virtually as a target.
