Write an equation, in function of x, to represent the situation.

Assuming the smaller number is x, the larger x + 2, since odd numbers come at intervals of two numbers (even, odd, even, odd, etc.)

$x + x + 2 = 304$

$2x = 302$

$x = 151$

The numbers are 151 and 153.

Always remember that consecutive integers differ in the value of $color(orange)(2$ :

So,Let the first number $=color(red)(x$

Then,second number= $=color(red)(x+2$

Substitute the values into the equation:

Remove the brackets:

$rarrx+x+2=304$

$rarr2x+2=304$

$rarr2x=304-2$

$rarr2x=302$
