Option A

Explanation:

In diagram 1.

Given V=3.0V, and I=0.5A,
Using Ohm's Law we get the resistance R as

R=V/I
=>R=3.0/0.5=6Omega

In diagram 2.

The voltage remains same and there is no change in the position of voltmeter. As such V=3.0V

An identical resistor is added in parallel with the first resistor. The combined resistance R_c can be found from the resistances in parallel equation

1/R_"total"=1/R_1+1/R_2
=>1/R_c=1/6+1/6
=>1/R_c=1/3
=>R_c=3Omega

New current is found using Ohm's Law

I=V/R
=>I=3.0/3
=>I=1A
