Protein synthesis is the process of what?
1 Answer
Forming proteins like enzymes from amino acids from the information coded on the DNA.
Explanation:
Proteins have a complex shape based on the sequence of amino acids. The amino acids allow the proteins to fold into specific shapes that allow the proteins to be organically active.
The DNA codes for the amino acids in groups of three bases. Each codon or group of three DNA bases code for a specific amino acid.
These amino acids are the then assembled on the ribosomes to synthesise proteins.
Even a small mistake in the process of protein synthesis results in a protein that is inactive and fails to function properly. But luckily, there are organelles in the cell that can break down these non-functional proteins, so the cell can reuse the amino acids for other proteins!
