Here's how you can do that.

Explanation:

You can add video links to your answer like you would any other type of link, with the special mention that YouTube videos are automatically embedded in the answer.

So, you can add links to videos by using the Link button located to the top of the answer frame

enter image source here

or by using the syntax

#["text you want hyperlinked"]("the URL of the video")#

Let's say, for example, that you want to add a video to Queen - The Show Must Go On in one of your answers.

You can do that by either copying the URL of the video directly from YouTube and paste it into the editor

As you can see, the video is embedded in the answer, i.e. you can play it from the answer page without having to go on YouTube.

If you want to add the video as a hyperlink, you have to alter its URL so that it no longer matches the one it has on YouTube. To do that, you can use something like tinyURL.

All you have to do is copy the YouTube link, click on Make tinyURL, and use the new URL generated for you.

In this case, the new URL is

http://tinyurl.com/qxkhbeh

Notice that it takes you to the same YouTube video, but that this time it is no longer embedded in the page.

Now I can add that as a hyperlink to, say, something like

Hey, Freddie already said this years ago, the show must go on!

So, to sum this up, YouTube videos need a different URL in order to be added as hyperlinks. For video from sites other than YouTube, simply use whichever URL they have on their respective websites.

Alternatively, you can use Socratic's videos section and hyperlink videos posted on YouTube via their Socratic link. One example would be

You can read more on the cell membrane here.

That page contains videos added by Socratic contributors, so feel free to use them as well if you like.
