Homolytic cleavage:
It happens when the bond is broken in a way that each element recover its shared electron; which will lead to the formation of radicals.
Heterolytic cleavage:
It happens when the bond is broken in a way that the shared electrons forming the bond will be both gained by one of the atoms making the bond; which will lead to the formation of ions.
