How does pH differ from pOH?

1 Answer

pH is the negative log of the hydrogen ion concentration -log[H+] and pOH is the negative log of the hydroxide ion concentration -log[OH-].

Here are some important relationships:
pH + pOH = 14
[H+] x [OH-] = 1 x #10^-14#
