We know that the standard equation of an ellipse having coordinate of its center (α,β) , major axis parallel to x-axis and length of the semi-major axis and semi-minor axis as aandb respectively ,is

(xα)2a2+(yβ)2b2=1

Inserting

α=2andβ=8

a=122=6andb=102=5

we get the standard equation of the ellipse

(x+2)262+(y8)252=1
