Explanation:

As the denominator (i.e. #20#) in #11/20# has only #2# and #5# as prime factors, #20=2xx2xx5#, we can easily convert denominator as a power of #10#, by multiplying it by #5#.

Hence #11/20=(11xx5)/(20xx5)#

= #55/100=(50+5)/100#

= #50/100+5/100#

= #5/10+5/100# i.e. #5# one-tenths and #5# one-hundredths

This is nothing but #0.55#
