Make them both have the same denominator.

So make them both have $6$ on the bottom. Then change $2/3$ into a denominator of $6$ so

$3 xx 2 = 6$

$2 xx 2 = 4$

So it is now

$2/3 = 4/6$

Subtract $1/6$ from $4/6$ to basically get $4-1$ , which is $3$ , and keep the denominator the same. The answer is $3/6$ , which simplified is $1/2$

$4/6 - 1/6 = (4-1)/6 = 3/6 = 1/2$
