Metric system is in decimals (base #10#) notation and hence very easy to calculate. Further, it uses standard names for different powers of #10# and hence easy to remember.

Explanation:

Metric system is easiest to remember. At the central level we have units like

gram for weight
meter for length
*liter for volume

And then ten times are decagram, decameter, decaliter
hundred times is hectogram, hectometer, hectoliter
thousand times is kilogram, kilometer, kiloliter

one-tenth is decigram, decimeter, deciliter
one-hundredth is centigram, centimeter, centiliter
one-thousandth is milligram, millimeter, mililiter

Apart from this, mega is one million times #10^6#
Giga is one billion times #10^9#
Micro is one-millionth #10^-6#
Nano is one-billionth #10^-9#
Pico is #10^-12#
Femto is #10^-15#
