Metric system is in decimals (base 10) notation and hence very easy to calculate. Further, it uses standard names for different powers of 10 and hence easy to remember.

Explanation:

Metric system is easiest to remember. At the central level we have units like

gram for weight
meter for length
*liter for volume

And then ten times are decagram, decameter, decaliter
hundred times is hectogram, hectometer, hectoliter
thousand times is kilogram, kilometer, kiloliter

one-tenth is decigram, decimeter, deciliter
one-hundredth is centigram, centimeter, centiliter
one-thousandth is milligram, millimeter, mililiter

Apart from this, mega is one million times 10^6
Giga is one billion times 10^9
Micro is one-millionth 10^-6
Nano is one-billionth 10^-9
Pico is 10^-12
Femto is 10^-15
