This function has a vertical shift of 4 units up.

If you were to graph $y = \sqrt{x}$ $y=sqrt(x)$ you would just move each point up 4 units.

$f (x) = \sqrt{x}$ $f(x)=sqrt(x)$ is shown by the blue curve and

$f (x) = \sqrt{x} + 4$ $f(x)=sqrt(x)+4$ is shown by the red curve below
