and we will need to determine the volume of the base (#V_b#) needed to titrate the acid.

Assuming that the acid and the base are both monoprotic, such as: #HCl# and #NaOH#.

In here we can say: #n_(H^+)=n_(OH^(-))#

Since the relationship between the number of mole and molarity is:

#n=MxxV#, then we can say:

#M_axxV_a=M_bxxV_b#

Thus, the volume of the base needed to titrate the acid is:

#V_b=(M_axxV_a)/(M_b)#
