You should be able to do this without a calculator!

There are two ways:

(1)
If you see that $144=12^2$ and $36=6^2$ then

$sqrt144/sqrt36=sqrt12^2/sqrt6^2=12/6=2$

(2)

$sqrt144/sqrt36=sqrt(144/36)=sqrt4=2$
