Add the numerators as the denominator are the same and then remove any common factors.

$4 \frac{x}{9} + \frac{x - 10}{9} = \frac{4 x + 1 x - 10}{9}$ $4x/9 + (x-10)/9 = (4x + 1x -10)/9$

Combining the x terms gives
