How did the Hawaiian Islands become part of the United States?

Hawaii was annexed as a state August 21, 1959. Hawaii was at first a monarchy ruled by "King K" as the people called him.
Explanation:
Soon King K was forced to sign "The Bayonet Constitution". If was a step closer to the United States was closer to controlling all of Hawaii. Many other things happened throughout the years. His sister was forced to give over control of Hawaii to the US after she took rule. I'm sure you will learn more about this in your history class but that is a short summary. When Hawaii became a state, the president apologized to Hawaii for all the wrong we had done to them.
