How can you convert a galvanometer into a voltmeter ?

Way to convert a galvanometer into a voltmeter: add high resistance in series with the galvanometer (series resistance)
And to covert a galvanometer into an ammeter add very low resistance(shunt resistance) in parallel to it.
Galvanometer is used as a sensor of current, and voltmeter is something used to measure the potential drop across a resistance or combination of resistance or a cell and a resistance, which contains high resistance,so that a little current will pass through it and we will be able to measure the potential drop using rule of parallel resistance in a circuit.
So,adding a high resistance will send as low as possible current through the galvanometer,so seeing that current value and knowing the resistance added,we can calculate the voltage drop across the system, which will now act as a voltmeter when connected in parallel to a resistor or combination of it or cell.
