Do you think that a person's age and the amount they eat each day are basically in proportion?

I think we can say that while there may be some sort of proportionality for the first roughly 20 or so years of life, that proportionality falls apart in the years of life that follow.

Explanation:

If we have Age be proportional to Food Consumed:

we'd be saying that when someone is younger they eat less and as they age they eat more and more.

And this could be seen to be true from birth through the teenage years (you can almost hear every parent of a teenager talking about how the refrigerator is always empty).

Beyond the teenage years, however, appetite seems to flatten and even decrease - the elderly eat far less than teenagers (not significantly more than teenagers, as proportionality would require).

And so I think we can say that while there may be some sort of proportionality for the first roughly 20 or so years of life, that proportionality falls apart in the years of life that follow.
