Do capacitors in series store equal charge?

Yes, if they have the same capacitance.
In series the voltage will be equally shared between the capacitors* so of each capacitor had the same capacitance the charge stored by each one will be equal as per the capacitance equation:
* I think that the voltage is only equally shared if the capacitances are all the same.
