Let,the electric field force is zero at $x m$ $xm$ distance from the $10 μ C$ $10 muC$ charge

Clearly both the charges try to push a test charge in opposite direction.

So,we can write,

$\frac{9 \cdot 10^{9} \cdot 10 \cdot 10^{- 6}}{x^{2}} = \frac{9 \cdot 10^{9} \cdot 40 \cdot 10^{- 6}}{{((\frac{50}{100}) - x)}^{2}}$ $(9*10^9*10*10^-6)/(x^2) = (9*10^9*40*10^-6)/((50/100) -x)^2$

Or, $\frac{10}{x^{2}} = \frac{40}{{(0.5 - x)}^{2}}$ $10/x^2 = 40/(0.5-x)^2$

Or, $4 x^{2} = {(0.5 - x)}^{2}$ $4x^2 = (0.5-x)^2$

Or, $2 x = 0.5 - x$ $2x = 0.5 -x$

Or, $3 x = 0.5$ $3x = 0.5$

So, $x = 0.167 m$ $x= 0.167 m$
