I think the easiest way to do this is by using proportions.

In this case, #55# is the original and #34# is part of #55#, so #55# would be #100%# and #34# would be #x%#.

#(55/100)# = #(34/x)#

Using cross multiplication you get:

#55x = 3400#

#11x = 680#

#x = 680/11#

So #34# is #680/11%# of #55#.
