My suggestion to help you analyze quotations is to apply a method used by journalists: ask yourself who wrote this, what type of writing does it come from, when was it written, where was it written, why was it written (for what purpose), and how was it communicated to others?
In other words: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
Explanation:
If you analyze a quotation using those six questions, then you will be on your way to understanding it and being able to explain it to others. That is the purpose of analysis: to take something apart and explain it.
